Sustainable Temporary Fencing: EnviroFence™

Sustainable site hoarding often works alongside temporary fencing. That's why we developed
EnviroFence™ – the UK's first temporary fencing system certified as Net Zero Carbon.

EnviroFence™ addresses limitations of lightweight mesh fencing whilst offering better economy than full hoarding where solid barriers aren't required. With height options of 2.4m, 3.0m and 3.6m, it's the tallest no-dig temporary fencing system in the UK.

Like EnviroHoard™, it's engineered to permanent fence standards (BS 1722-14:2019), uses 100% reusable components, and comes with site-specific carbon embodiment reports.

FAQs

Got a Question About Our Sustainable Temporary Hoarding?

What is sustainable hoarding?

Sustainable hoarding is a reusable site protection system designed to minimise environmental impact. Unlike traditional timber hoarding that's used once and disposed of, sustainable hoarding uses recycled materials and can be deployed across multiple projects, significantly reducing carbon emissions and construction waste.

How much carbon does EnviroHoard™ save compared to traditional hoarding?

Over an average two-year project, EnviroHoard™ delivers approximately 70% lower embodied carbon than traditional plywood hoarding. For every 100m of EnviroHoard™ installed, you save around 9 tonnes of CO₂ and prevent an estimated 8.7 trees from being cut down.

How long does EnviroHoard™ last?

EnviroHoard™ is designed for long-term use across multiple projects. The Haringey Civic Centre case study demonstrates a 10-year installation with zero maintenance requirements. Because all components are fully reusable, the system can continue to be deployed on future projects indefinitely.

Can sustainable hoarding withstand UK weather conditions?

Yes. EnviroHoard™ complies with Temporary Works Forum guidance and is designed to meet all UK wind zones. The system is engineered to permanent fence standards and uses low-carbon EnviroBlok foundations for stability. uPVC panels are weather-resistant and require no maintenance, even in harsh conditions.

Can I add branding and graphics to sustainable hoarding?

Yes. Vinyl graphics apply directly to EnviroHoard™ panels, allowing you to display corporate colours, project information, and branding. This method is more sustainable than traditional hoarding graphics, as it eliminates the need for high embodied carbon aluminium dibond panels.

Will sustainable hoarding help with BREEAM scoring?

Yes. Choosing EnviroHoard™ can improve scoring under BREEAM, BREEAM Infrastructure and the Considerate Constructors Scheme. As the UK's first net-zero verified hoarding system with full Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) certification, it demonstrates clear environmental credentials that support project sustainability targets.
At Panthera Group, we take pride in being NCP115 compliant, recognising the importance of adequately securing properties during periods when they are most vulnerable – such as when scaffolding is erected.
Panthera Group also helped develop the standards of excellence set out in NCP115 in collaboration with the NSI.

We’re proud to have worked with some of the biggest names in the construction industry

Since 2015, Durkan have been successfully working with Panthera under a single supplier framework agreement, this alone is testament to their ability and commitment in supporting Durkan through its own growth plans. In this time Panthera have safely installed in the region of over 8000 metres of hoarding across our schemes. Their MD Neal James and his team have always acted professionally and regularly go over and above to support our site teams.

Durkan are committed to driving down the C02 impact of its projects, EnviroHoard™ helps us from the start of the project and now it is Net Zero Verified will only further support our sustainability targets. I look forward to working with them in the future and would recommend their services to other contractors.

Dean Martin

Construction Director, Durkan Ltd

Sisk have been using Panthera across its various Wembley Park regeneration schemes since 2011 and since 2018 a national framework has been in place, during this time they have safely and professionally designed and installed a range of hoarding systems to suit the projects exacting requirements. In line with our own company sustainability strategy, we have been using their sustainable EnviroHoard™ system and have been impressed by its flexibility and in particular its sustainable attributes including its climate positive benefits, Tree Planting and Carbon Offsetting. I have always found them to be an easy and collaborative subcontractor to work with and would have no hesitation in recommending their services.

Panthera are a Tier 1 Subcontractor to Lovell, who deliver in terms of H&S, quality of workmanship and have a pro-active attitude on site. In terms of commercial approach, Panthera are non-contractual and their quotations and valuations are of a very good quality. A major benefit of Panthera is that they can undertake the Site Hoarding, Temporary Electrics & Plumbing and CCTV Security on our project, these are procured under a single contract. Operationally they deliver these packages using their in-house teams and coordinate all packages saving our site teams having to coordinate multiple trades.

Supply Chain Manager, Lovell

EnviroHoard™ not only helps us to meet our ambitious environmental targets, it also has real practical benefits. The panels needed to sit on top of a retaining wall with a 4m drop on one side. As EnviroHoard™ is installed from the rear, it eliminated the need for a partial road closure and the hiring of aerial platforms (MEWPS) which saved traffic disruption and cost and a further benefit was that the works did not have to take place at night.

The hoarding has a clean, professional looking appearance and does not need any on-going decorating maintenance and can be easily dismantled and reinstalled across the project with no loss in its visual appearance or structural integrity.

Matthew Davis

Project Manager, Kier

Firstly, the hoarding system we chose needed to be able to last for the entire project; this is because we made a conscious decision early on that a key driver across the scheme was to look for environmentally friendly alternatives. The EnviroHoard™ solution enabled us to meet that requirement perfectly.

We had been testing the product on simulated sites, but the opportunity to install in a real situation was ideal and has reaffirmed the benefits of the system. When coupled with the benefits of using a closed loop recycled solution that eliminates the use of trees, we believe EnviroHoard™ is the way forward for site hoarding solutions.
