Panthera Group is delighted to announce it has been awarded a three-year, sole supplier framework agreement by Skanska UK for its sustainable construction site hoarding solution, EnviroHoard™. This follows a fourteen-month negotiation process which culminated in Skanska UK agreeing its first ever site hoarding framework.

As recognised leaders in green construction, Skanska UK was keen to move away from plywood construction site hoarding to a more sustainable solution. EnviroHoard™ is a closed loop site hoarding system manufactured from post production uPVC. The panels can be used multiple times on different projects and are recycled at the end of their life thus EnviroHoard™ was a natural choice for Skanska.

Chris Douglas is Procurement Lead at Skanska and was involved in the tender process;

“Our approach is to incorporate ever-more sustainable options into our processes and delivery of major construction projects. When we started the tender process, a sustainable solution was a key factor and Panthera Group’s pitch demonstrated how EnviroHoard™ could deliver on our sustainability objectives. It saves us from sourcing single use timber on projects and enhances our credibility as a leader and authority for sustainable building.”

The commercial benefits of installing EnviroHoard™ were also considerations for the client given that the product does not delaminate or warp and requires no maintenance for the duration of the project. It is also easily relocatable if required. The experience and knowledge of the Panthera Group team were invaluable factors in the successful bid, according to Chris;

“Becoming a Skanska framework partner is not easy; we have very high standards and these extend to our chosen partners. Neal and his team demonstrated exceptional knowledge and experience in hoarding systems and we were particularly impressed by the company’s commitment to sustainability going forwards. I am looking forward to working with Panthera Group for the next three years.”

Neal James, Panthera Group MD, is thrilled to have secured this prestigious framework agreement with a main contractor and hopes it will support the company’s ambition of eliminating the use of timber and plywood in the construction of hoarding by 2025;

“There is no doubt that timber has its place in construction, but we just don’t believe that cutting down 30 – 60-year-old trees for temporary short-term hoarding is right, particularly now we have an alternative. We hope to encourage other construction companies to follow suit so that trees are not felled unnecessarily.”

Panthera Group has partnered with Circular Ecology, a specialist carbon-offsetting provider, to invest in re-forestation and renewable energy schemes for every metre of EnviroHoard™ installed. The company also donates trees for inner city planting projects via Trees for Cities.
