A stunning development on a brownfield site at Asheridge Road, Chesham has now been approved and EnviroHoard™ erected to protect the site during the build process.

The former employment site has been vacant and derelict for over ten years and a high quality, residential-led, mixed-use neighbourhood will be constructed to answer the growing need for new homes in the area.  The large site will include 160 homes, 1000 sqm of business enterprise space and landscaped recreational space and has been designed London-based master planners, JTP Architects, with input from the local community.

The contractor, Durkan Group, has significant expertise in delivering similar sustainable projects in London and the South East. An existing client of Panthera Group, they have once again appointed Panthera’s Hoarding Division to install an extensive barrier to secure the site. In line with the sustainable ethos of the project the company specified environmentally-friendly EnviroHoard™; a closed loop recycling system made of recycled uPVC that can be used again and again.

The in-ground system totalled some 253m in length with 32m fixed to concrete blocks and consists of all white panels. It is complemented by 320m of tree protection fencing to the rear of the site.

The use of EnviroHoard™ not only improves Considerate Constructor and BREEAM scoring for Durkan, it also stops trees from being felled for single use construction purposes, such as timber and plywood hoardings. uPVC units can be used multiple times and at the end of their useful life are recycled into pellets that are manufactured back into panels or other products, rather than going to landfill.

Panthera Group, having successfully completed the project, has already purchased carbon credits via specialist carbon off-setting consultant, Circular Ecology, for every metre of EnviroHoard™ installed. The company will also donate trees for local community planting by Trees for Cities, UK charity working at a national and international scale to improve lives by planting trees in cities.
