    EnviroScrew™

The Lower-Carbon Fixing Method for EnviroHoard® and EnviroFence™

Less concrete. Less transport. Less embodied carbon.

Introducing EnviroScrew™; a new fixing method developed for Panthera’s EnviroHoard® and EnviroFence™ systems.

Designed for both hard and soft ground applications, EnviroScrew™ replaces conventional concrete blocks and other heavy temporary fixing. The result is a lighter, more efficient and lower-carbon approach to installing reusable hoarding and fencing.

EnviroHoard® and EnviroFence™ were developed to challenge the traditional approach to temporary site infrastructure. But sustainability cannot stop at the panels.

Traditional fixing methods can require significant quantities of concrete blocks or other heavy ballast, creating additional embodied carbon and increasing the transport, handling and installation requirements of a project.

EnviroScrew™ addresses the fixing method as part of the overall system.

By using reusable ground anchors instead of conventional concrete ballast where appropriate, we can reduce the amount of material transported to site, reduce associated transport emissions and remove the embodied carbon associated with the concrete fixing elements.

    Benefits of using EnviroScrew™

    • Lower-carbon installation – The environmental benefit isn’t simply about replacing one fixing with another. It’s about reducing the impact of the entire installation.
    • Reduced material – Less reliance on concrete blocks and other heavy temporary ballast.
    • Reduced transport – A lighter fixing solution can reduce the number of heavy materials transported to and from site.
    • Reduced embodied carbon – Removing conventional concrete fixing elements can reduce the embodied carbon associated with the overall installation.
    • Reduced handling – Lightweight components can simplify installation and removal, reducing the requirement to move heavy ballast around site.
    • Less waste – Reusable fixings can be removed and deployed again on future projects.

    Support Options

    EnviroFence™ Support Options

EnviroFence™ comes with a choice of support options to cater for different site conditions, duration system would be installed for and sectors it can be used in such as construction, events, and high-risk applications such a national infrastructure sites.

The choice of support option would also depend on the type of pedestrian load you want your temporary fence to meet.

Our patent-pending ground support frame is a multi-purpose part of the system that can be used to support all ranges of the EnviroFence™ system. If installers or clients already have their own concrete blocks, they can be utilised by simply placing on top of the frame.

For projects looking for the lowest carbon solution we recommend using Spirafix ground screws which are designed to be driven into the ground through the ground support frame. This solution includes full on-site testing and reporting.

    Support Options:

    • Fixed directly to 350kg or 800kg low carbon concrete blocks
    • Ground support frame utilising one of the following
    • Proprietary concrete blocks (client may own)
    • 50kg concrete filled weights
    • Water IBCs
    • Spirafix ground screw

    EPD & Sustainability

    Independently Verified Environmental Product Declaration

EnviroFence™ is supported by an independently verified Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), providing transparent, third-party environmental data across the product lifecycle. This builds on the system’s cradle-to-grave Life Cycle Assessment in accordance with EN 15804:2019 and its Net Zero Verified status.

For contractors, developers and design teams, the EPD provides credible environmental data that can support project sustainability targets, tender submissions, ESG reporting and informed material specification.

We’re proud to have worked with some of the biggest names in the construction industry

Since 2015, Durkan have been successfully working with Panthera under a single supplier framework agreement, this alone is testament to their ability and commitment in supporting Durkan through its own growth plans. In this time Panthera have safely installed in the region of over 8000 metres of hoarding across our schemes. Their MD Neal James and his team have always acted professionally and regularly go over and above to support our site teams.

Durkan are committed to driving down the C02 impact of its projects, EnviroHoard™ helps us from the start of the project and now it is Net Zero Verified will only further support our sustainability targets. I look forward to working with them in the future and would recommend their services to other contractors.

    Dean Martin

    Construction Director, Durkan Ltd

Sisk have been using Panthera across its various Wembley Park regeneration schemes since 2011 and since 2018 a national framework has been in place, during this time they have safely and professionally designed and installed a range of hoarding systems to suit the projects exacting requirements. In line with our own company sustainability strategy, we have been using their sustainable EnviroHoard™ system and have been impressed by its flexibility and in particular its sustainable attributes including its climate positive benefits, Tree Planting and Carbon Offsetting. I have always found them to be an easy and collaborative subcontractor to work with and would have no hesitation in recommending their services.

Panthera are a Tier 1 Subcontractor to Lovell, who deliver in terms of H&S, quality of workmanship and have a pro-active attitude on site. In terms of commercial approach, Panthera are non-contractual and their quotations and valuations are of a very good quality. A major benefit of Panthera is that they can undertake the Site Hoarding, Temporary Electrics & Plumbing and CCTV Security on our project, these are procured under a single contract. Operationally they deliver these packages using their in-house teams and coordinate all packages saving our site teams having to coordinate multiple trades.

    Dean Evans

    Supply Chain Manager, Lovell

EnviroHoard™ not only helps us to meet our ambitious environmental targets, it also has real practical benefits. The panels needed to sit on top of a retaining wall with a 4m drop on one side. As EnviroHoard™ is installed from the rear, it eliminated the need for a partial road closure and the hiring of aerial platforms (MEWPS) which saved traffic disruption and cost and a further benefit was that the works did not have to take place at night.

The hoarding has a clean, professional looking appearance and does not need any on-going decorating maintenance and can be easily dismantled and reinstalled across the project with no loss in its visual appearance or structural integrity.

    Matthew Davis

    Project Manager, Kier

Firstly, the hoarding system we chose needed to be able to last for the entire project; this is because we made a conscious decision early on that a key driver across the scheme was to look for environmentally friendly alternatives. The EnviroHoard™ solution enabled us to meet that requirement perfectly.

We had been testing the product on simulated sites, but the opportunity to install in a real situation was ideal and has reaffirmed the benefits of the system. When coupled with the benefits of using a closed loop recycled solution that eliminates the use of trees, we believe EnviroHoard™ is the way forward for site hoarding solutions.
