Panthera Group has launched its first apprenticeship scheme working with East Surrey College.  The launch of this scheme will help ensure aspiring students are able to gain valuable work experience whilst working towards achieving their industry recognised qualifications.

The company first engaged with East Surrey College in 2019 and secured its first placement shortly afterward.  As an Apprentice at Panthera, you will be able to earn while you learn; you will spend time in the workplace and at college learning new skills and training alongside experienced staff.

In 2020, at just 16 years of age, Farran James joined Panthera’s team as a Trainee Quantity Surveyor working towards his NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Construction Contracting Operations.  By spending just one day a week on campus at East Surrey College and the remaining four days at Panthera’s headquarters, Farran has been able to pass all modules of his course with flying colours and with the company’s support, is able to enrol in the college’s RICS Chartered Surveyor (Quantity Surveyor) Level 6 Apprenticeship course:

“I really enjoyed the mix of full-time work with my apprenticeship. It felt like my time was used well with one day at college to achieve a good qualification whilst also progressing in my role at Panthera. I had great support from both my Level 3 teacher and my assessor for my NVQ, I had support from my colleagues at Panthera to complete any work outside of class too. It does take a lot of focus and determination to balance both work and education, however my employer made me feel comfortable to prioritise class work especially to hit specified deadlines.”

Soosie French, Assessor of Construction at East Surrey College has expressed her delight with Farran’s progress on her course:

Farran has successfully completed his Level 3 Diploma in Construction Contracting Operations apprenticeship and has demonstrated his knowledge and competency gained throughout his work-based experience over the 2 years.  As Farran’s assessor at East Surrey College, he has shown me his commitment, positive attitude, and contributions to his employer at Panthera Group.  This includes his involvement in tendering for jobs including quotations for the UK’s first verified Net Zero Carbon Hoarding System ‘EnviroHoard™’ developed by Panthera.  He has provided great examples of evidence for his work along with clearly established working relationships and growth in confidence.  I am pleased to hear Farran would like to progress on to the L6 Construction Quantity Surveying apprenticeship which I wish him every success in to further his career.

Panthera Group wish Farran all the best as he transitions onto the next phase of this challenging course.

A full-time job awaits all successful Apprentices as they complete the scheme.
